On the cover: Wole Soyinka, in full Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, is Professor in Residence at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. An activist in Nigeria�s fight for independence, he was imprisoned in solitary confinement from 1967 to 1969 for writing an article that called for a cease-fire. To this day he is deeply involved in Nigerian politics and the shaping of Nigeria (Federal Republic of Nigeria) as an independent nation.
